She turned me into a newt

I titled this diary after a line from the movie Monty Python and the Holy Grail.  In the scene set in the middle ages a mob of people are accusing a woman of being a witch.  Indivduals in the crowd are shouting out acts the witch had supposedlly done to prove she's a witch.  One of the persons screams out "she turned me into a newt!"  the mob hushes and looks at the guy and at that point to whole crowd realizes how absurd it is in what they're doing and are just accussing someone so they can see someone burn at the stake.  The person who made the statement quickly realizes how absurd his statement is and says, "I got better". In which the crowd goes back accussing the woman they want to see burned at the stake. Knowing full well she is innocent.

Why am I quoting from some movie most people have never seen? Because I'm reminded of that line from reading all the Palin baby daries.  Surely (another movie comes to mind) the people can't believe what they are writing nor some of the reponses others have made.  Am I wrong or are people just flaming this poor 17 year old girl for no other reason then they can.

I'm sure many will be indignant about this diary and say things like the mother brought it on herself. Governer Palin is fair game for just about anything.  But I'm reminded of another quote, this one from a real person during another witch hunt, "Have you no sense of decency?".
